Libraries can do a lot to celebrate this holiday. They can hold their own celebration of Seijin no hi for their patrons who are 20 years old, complete with Japanese food and decorations (and some "regular" food as well for picky eaters). They can also have an expert on the holiday come in and talk about why it's so important for the young adults in Japan to attend the ceremonies nad celebrate the holiday.
The library can do a program for younger children where they do origami and decorate their own kimonos while learning about the holiday. To make their own kimonos the children can just decorate pieces of paper that look like kimonos, or cut out pieces of cloth that look like kimonos. The children can also make their own sushi with candy shapes (fruit roll ups, swedish fish, etc.).
There are many things libraries can do for this holiday, all it takes is a little creativity!
